Fira de Bagòin at Villa Verucchio, in the Rimini hinterland

Villa Verucchio, a town in the Rimini hinterland at the gates of Valmarecchia, will be the scene of the Fira de Bagòin. The party will take place Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 January 2013 in Piazzale Europa and is an event that fully recalls the Romagna culinary tradition. It is in fact in the first days of the new year that the baghino is "stopped", as they say in our part of Italy, or the pig, an ancient tradition that is linked to the sacrifices that the Romans made to the Lares, the deities of the house. I don't want vegetarians, but who doesn't know what it means, get ready for Sunday 13 because from 10 am the pig will be slaughtered as it once was. True professionals will work in making sausages, ribs, juicy pork cracklings, cotechini and so on.

There will obviously be food stands in general, lots of live popular music, Romagna specialties and… pork of course. There will also be a large heated marquee as well admission is free.

And if you are already satisfied and want to dispose of the culinary revelry of the Christmas holidays just passed, I suggest a walk in the upper Verucchio, cradle of the Malatesta lordship and even before the Villanovan and then Etruscan populations. You can thus visit the Rocca del Sasso, among the best preserved forts for its rooms and the rich collection of medieval weapons, and the Civic Archaeological Museum inside the ancient monastery of the Augustinian Fathers founded in the XNUMXth century, not far from the fort. For timetables and costs to visit the fortress and the museum, consult the Pro Loco Verucchio website.
