Ekk, an extraordinary hotel in Sant'Angelo, Abruzzo

In this endless summer wandering I got to try theEkk hotel which, as they rightly say, is a decidedly out of the ordinary accommodation facility. Going in order, first of all, the hotel is located in Abruzzo and precisely a few kilometers from the medieval citadel of Città Sant'Angelo and very close to the Pescara Nord motorway exit. We are on the very first hill in Abruzzo, overlooking the sea.

The originality lies in the fact that the structure is inside an old wine cellar which has been recovered and transformed into a hotel, convention center, restaurant and 'supermarket' of typical Abruzzo specialties. In short, a very important industrial recovery. It is a decidedly new hotel with a strong impact for those who have never visited structures such as XNUMXs cellars from the inside and it is definitely noticeable coming from the motorway. It is no coincidence that I slept inside that was an old concrete barrel for winemaking and even the colors of the rooms and walls still bear the marks of the wine.

Ekk is also the enhancement of typical Abruzzo products. In the basement you will find in fact Typical market Ekk with almost three hundred square meters crammed with Abruzzo agri-food delights, such as pastas from ancient cereals, craft beers increasingly in vogue, endless rows of wines such as Trebbiano d'Abruzzo o Montepulciano, of course oils, cheeses, preserves, cold cuts such as Ventricina del Chietino.

How many of you know the Ventricina of Chieti, for example? I guess the vast majority do not know it, the sector insiders and chefs for sure, but trust me that crossing the regional borders is almost absolute zero. In short, Ekk for me was a fantastic discovery for those looking for an entire region from an agri-food point of view in one place.

Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to try the restaurant, but if the products they use are exclusively those present in the typical market then it is safe to go. Of course, while I was there I took the opportunity to fill the bag with some product. Let's face it, the quality is true that you pay but in some cases I think some prices are a bit high. However, someone may also have a different impression or perception.

Next to the structure you will also find the Febo Garden, that is a large nursery where you can buy plants and look for ideas and ideas for decorating your home and taking care of outdoor gardens.

I slept in a spacious double for single use. Nothing to say because there was everything I needed for one night, from satellite TV included in the price to wifi, also because I was there for work. Since the room was created inside one of the old concrete barrels, as I told you, I could still smell it. In short, a pleasant surprise this Ekk.
