Da Necci in Rome, a historic café in the heart of Pigneto

Necci it is a historic bar that is located in via Fanfulla from Lodi 68 in locality the Pigneto, Rome. This place became famous in the 50s, although it was born as early as 1924, thanks to famous directors who hung out around here between a movie and a dinner.

In via Fanfulla da Lodi a large part of Beggar. Bar Necci, a place frequented by Pasolini assiduously, will host the casting of the film. The interior and exterior of the bar frequented by Accattone and his friends are shot in Via Fanfulla da Lodi a few steps from Bar Necci. From that year, 1958, the history of this place will remain indelibly linked to the film and the director.

The place is easily found, a big garden allows entry with tables both outside and inside. Honestly I stayed inside, there is no air conditioning but the place is breezy and the interior is beautiful. All draws a vintage style, from 50s television to movie posters to beautiful black and white photos.

Here to eat you are spoiled for choice. The ingredients are biological and come in large quantities from Latium or at most from central Italy. For breakfast I had a good cappuccino and an excellent one dark chocolate and raspberry cake. Actually the cake was a bit expensive, it came 4€ but I won't even explain the taste of chocolate with raspberries in the mouth. For lunch, on the other hand, I chose a classic Necci sandwich for just under € 4 and abitter orange juice….old style. I spent less than € 5 for lunch and had a great meal. The Necci sandwich is made n two ways or with salad and spicy salami (the one I took in the photo) or with cheese and beets.

Ultimately the place deserves a lot, lunch and desserts are great but next time I will also try some more elaborate dishes as I have seen really tempting things. Ah, they suggested I try the Banana Muffin, but I was full, if you try it, let me know!

Finally, if you want to go there with your computer go ahead, the connection wifi is free and pretty fast, I wasn't the only one with my Mac;)
