I fell in love with Lucerne catching a glimpse of her one morning at dawn from the window of a night train bound for Paris. I haven't been able to go there yet to really visit it but the Christmas one would really be one of the best moments to do it, the atmosphere of the Markets in Lucerne it is certainly even more magical and romantic due to the effect given by the lights reflected between the lake and the mountains. Market of the Bambin GesĂą
Il Market of the Bambin GesĂą is located in the atrium of the Station (Luzerner Christkindlimarkt in RailCity Bahnhof Luzern), here are 50 chalets offering Christmas specialties, desserts and spicy food all accompanied by live shows. It takes place indoors, and is therefore also a good solution to avoid the cold. The opening period is from the end of November to just before Christmas.
Lucerne Christmas Market
Il Lucerne Christmas Market (Lozaner Wiehnachtsmart) takes place in Franziskanerplaz, also here you will find culinary specialties including Christmas stars, biscuits, mulled wine, sweet punches and spices, without forgetting of course the local crafts and is open from early December to just before Christmas.
International Market
Il International Market (Internationales Weihnachtsforum Come) lasts only a few days, between 12 and the 15 December generally, it is located in Kapellplaz and each of its 20 stands is dedicated to a nation and presents how Christmas is celebrated around the world.
Christmas Tree Market
Il Christmas Tree Market (Christbaummarkt) begins the second week of December, ending on the 24th and takes place along the Schweizerhofquai. Here you will find fir trees, branches and decorations
Another opportunity to get to know and appreciate local crafts and products is given on 1 December from Guzuu Season Market: which takes place every three months and in each season offers novelties.
Shows, a great one skating ring and boat trips are just some of the possibilities to be exploited during this holiday period, including “Fir branches and sparkling lights”: a guided tour of the city with a Christmas theme to discover the traditions linked to this period.
