Cairo: where to sleep, what to see in the most beautiful Egypt

Cairo: where to sleep, what to see in the most beautiful Egypt
Un stay in Cairo it is often aimed at the vision of Pyramids and Sphinx, but in addition to what the guide tells you, here is a couple of more news for those who want to embark on the journey alone.

First the paragraph on "where to move". Cairo has approx 50 million inhabitants, you can therefore imagine the traffic, unbelievable, and the smog, annoying. Given the number of inhabitants in Cairo it is equipped with a network metro which has 3 lines and it costs 1 Egyptian pound, just over 10 euro cents. The same goes for the bus he has 13/14 seats and it always costs 1 Egyptian pound. A separate mention goes to the taxi which is worth taking to see the two main attractions. Please note that i taxi they are black and white otherwise they are not authorized, the maximum cost of taxis is about 20 Egyptian pounds, so 2/3 €.

What to see in Cairo. First of all the Sphinx and Pyramids. The cost of the collective ticket is 60 Egyptian pounds, about € 8, and you can stay inside until sunset. Here you will find 3 pyramids, a larger one high 149 meters and two other smaller ones, besides the beautiful sphinx. The sphinx has the body of an animal and the head of a man, it faces the Sunrise and is placed in front of the pyramids as the keeper of the tombs behind, since, as you know, the pyramids were the tombs of the ancient pharaohs.

A very nice thing is the light show, the Sound Lights that takes place one hour after sunset and which is done right in front of the sphinx. The show is done 3 times a day and in several languages, including Italian and during the show the pyramids and the sphinx are illuminated and highlighted in a wonderful way.

If you want to do a evening tour in Cairo you can do the tour of the Nile with the boats that are located on the banks of the river. These are all equipped with lights and speakers for music and if they are beautiful during the day ... imagine at night. Practically a mini open-air disco that can accommodate up to 15 people. If you are a group of friends you get away with it 50 Egyptian pounds each, about € 5.5.

Accomodation. Cairo is certainly full of places to sleep but since we are in Egypt and certainly the standard is not like the European one, I recommend already known hotel chains, so as not to make mistakes. If you want to sleep right on the bank of the Nile, the longest river in the world, I recommend the Marriot Hotel. If you want to spend the night in front of the pyramids and maybe see them illuminated at night, the Mercure hotel from 53 € per night e Le Meridien Piramids Hotel and Spa is the one for you.
