Belfast, Hotel Ramada by Wyndham review

Where to sleep in Belfast, the review of the Hotel Ramada by Wyndham in the city center of Northern Ireland. Sleep well and spend the right amount for a trip to Belfast city with no surprises.

In this post I want to give you some tips on where to eat and where to sleep in Belfast: the capital of northern Ireland.

Belfast, where to sleep

Let's start from where to sleep, hotel or apartment. The most important thing for me is to select centrally located hotels. In fact, I prefer to pay maybe a little more but have the freedom to go out and be able to freely walk around the city at any time and return to the hotel when I feel like it most without taking too many means. My choice fell on Ramada by Wyndham Hotel. A nice room, quite spacious, clean, with private bathroom, everything you need in my opinion.

What to expect from the Ramada by Wyndham Hotel

The location of the Hotel is great; from Belfast International Airport, taking the bus Airport Express 300, in about 30/40 minutes you will be in the center of Belfast. From the stop on Royal Avenue, in a few minutes on foot you are at the hotel. Being the Royal Avenue the main street in Belfast you will understand that all the rest of the city center is easily reachable on foot from the hotel. The Hotel allows you to do breakfast and dinner for a fee. I personally haven't tried anything as I preferred to try the local pubs. At this point I recommend some places to have lunch or dinner.

Where to eat in Belfast

The two places I liked the most were it Yardbird and McCrackans Pub. The Yardbird is highly recommended for grilled chicken lovers (the only dish proposed, together with some side dishes) they make both lunch and dinner. The place is beautiful, among other things we were lucky enough to sit on the wooden counter right in front of the cooks. Very cozy place, good dishes and ok price. The restaurant is located above The Dirty Onion pub where you can spend the post dinner sipping a beer or a whiskey with live music (a different genre every night).

Il McCrackans instead it is a real pub; we found it by chance in an entry: the famous Belfast alleys. The food is good, the typical atmosphere of pubs and good prices, so highly recommended.

A traditional pub

Another pub that you should definitely try, in this case not for eating as they don't offer this service, but having a drink is the Kelly's Cellars. We were intrigued by the Lonely Planet comment describing it as the Belfast's oldest pub. Here there are often impromptu concerts of traditional music: we decided to go there and we fell in love with it. The interior of the pub is very characteristic, full of objects hanging from the ceiling but above all full of Irish people and not tourists, which in my opinion is very appreciated when you are abroad to fully experience a place. At one point some guys sat around a table like normal customers and started playing, amazing! These are the things I love most about Ireland, where you can find simplicity, serenity and conviviality where and when you least expect it.

We also ate at the famous Crown Liquor Saloon ma honestly, the restaurant doesn't recommend it, the food was not that great and the prices not exactly low.
