Basel and the Kunstmuseum pay homage to Picasso

Basel and the Kunstmuseum pay homage to Picasso

Until the 21 July il Kunstmuseum of Basel pays tribute to one of Basel's most loved artists with the retrospective "The Picassos have arrived!“, Which brings together for the first time all the works of Picasso that belong to the private collections of the city, the Kunstmuseum and the Beyeler Foundation.

Six collectors of the caliber of Raoul La Roche, Rudolf Staechelin, Karl Im Obersteg and Maja Sacher-Stehlin were interested in the painter's production already before the Second World War, the passion of the Basel people for Picasso was revealed in 1967, when a popular referendum sanctions the allocation of 6 million francs for the purchase of Les deux frères and Arlequin assis. As a token of thanks, Picasso then decides to donate some works to the city, including the preparatory study de The Ladies of Avignon.

A shame therefore not to take advantage of the special offer of Basel Tourism, which, starting from 93 CHF (about 77 euros), offers: overnight stay in a double room (the price is per person) with breakfast (including tourist tax, VAT and service), Mobility Ticket for the free use of public transport during your stay; input for the Kunstmuseum Basel. Basel is one of the cities with the highest concentration of museums in the world: forty in the span of thirty-seven square kilometers, ranging from modern art to design. Numerous architects have found fertile ground here for their experiments: from Franck O. Gehry to Richard Meier, to Herzog & De Meuron (their Vitra Museum is not to be missed).
