Romantic Christmas market at the castle

In December, there is a romantic Christmas market in the castle courtyard every weekend. The environment makes it special. During the years 1680 and 1685 Friedrich II built the castle. Today it gives off a fabulous atmosphere of princesses and knights. In the market you can drink and eat typical things, such as Mulled wine and Bratwurst, the typically German versions of mulled wine and sausage. The castle is open with free admission. It is very nice and inside there is a cafe with very good cakes. There is a huge park all around the castle, a great backdrop for a photography session.

In the courtyard of the castle you will also find the white tower. The Weiße Turm is the trademark of Bad Homburg. You can already see it coming from the motorway from Frankfurt. During the Christmas market, a miniature steam locomotive passes by in the white tower. The little ones love the locomotive and a trip for the little ones costs only a few euros.

Passing this gate you will be in the park and you will see the two most important churches of Bad Homburg: the largest with the four towers is the Protestant church, the Erlöserkirche.
