Atomium in Brussels, find out what it is

Atomium in Brussels, a trip to do during a holiday in Belgium, a place to see to learn about the history of the Belgian city.

THEAtomium is a monument located in Heysel Park in Brussels and it is a steel reconstruction of an iron crystal. The work might seem rather bizarre if you don't know its history. The iron crystal is in fact enlarged by 165 billion of times to appear so great in the eyes of visitors.

The Atomium was built on the occasion of Expo '58, the Universal Exposition in Brussels and originally had to last 6 months, a bit like the Eiffel Tower for Paris.

Alto 103 meters the spheres of the Atomium have a diameter of 18 meters and are connected by escalators and you can watch from the spheres or the panorama on Brussels. Some spheres instead host interesting exhibitions on the history of the construction of the Atomium but not only.
